Bollman Hat Company
The bowler hat was designed by the hatters James and George Lock in the central London district of St. James around 1676. The Locks sent their design to hatmakers Thomas and William Bowler, who produced a prototype of the hat and renamed it 'The Bowler'.
Peaking in popularity towards the end of the 19th century, the style offered some middle ground between the formality of the top hat associated with upper classes, and the casual nature of soft flat hats worn by working classes. As the traditional headwear of 'gentlemen', the bowler has become something of an English cultural icon.
Back in the states, the Bollman Hat Company has consistently produced the timeless Bowler/Derby style throughout its 140 years of operation, in catering to a demand that has endured for decades.

"All good!"
"Hat is great, fits nicely; however the band around the hat was set wrong and part of the band was curled over."
"This is a stylish and well-made hat. One of my best."
"Apparently your employees could not find my size, 7 1/4 or 22 inches. I did not buy for those reasons."
"The hat’s quality was top notch. The fit was true to size. It was clean, well formed, and the craftsmanship paid attention to detail. The felt was absolutely consistent, and beautiful. Unfortunately, the height and depth of the bowl was not complementary to me. I hated to have to send it back! I certainly hope that they will produce a bowler that is not as tall. I almost picked up one of the similar Bailey hats. But I am not one to wear a brand billboard such as the pin that is on the Bailey. It might as well be a Nike swoosh. That’s another reason I really liked this hat. There was no branding on the outside of it. It is definitely encouraged to pick one of these up if you are looking for a classically designed bowler that is well made!"
"The hats are high quality…and if you can get one to fit, you’re in luck. They shipped 3 different bowlers and none of them fit. In generic sizing I always wear a “M”, however the Bollman “M” fell down over my ears, so I had them send a “S”, which would not go over the crown of my head. Thinking the first “M” was mis-tagged, I ordered another “M”…same problem as the first, even after I talked to their customer service and gave them my exact measurements. The Bollman hats see to be made for a distinctively oval head. (19. 5 CM long- 16. 5CM wide). I can’t fault their customer service; they were very helpful and accommodating…and I really did want a brown bowler to go with my black one, from another retailer. The black is a “M” and fits fine."
"Great quality"
"I ordered an XL first time around. Even with the fillers it was still too big. Shipped it back (free) and asked for large. PERFECT! Love the hat. I have wanted a bowler for some time and this is much cheaper than a Stetson. I have the other Bollman Heritage Collection and love it also. It is an XL so the sizing on them varies"
"exhcange almost took a month. Slow turn around process and slow shipping."
"Class class class, ive used it as a show piece. Its that good."
